God Knows: Temptation – Rev. Larry Trotter
Luke 4:1-13 Jesus was tempted by the devil who was seeking a foothold in his life and mission. On the surface the temptations didn’t seem unreasonable. But the devil sought to compromise Jesus’ integrity and dilute his influence. God knows how temptation threatens our integrity and stands ready to bring courage and resolve.

    Why Church? Rev. Wil Cantrell
    Matthew 16:13-20
Church is not our idea. It is Jesus’ idea. Church was not starting by disciples trying to institutionalize their dead leaders message. It was started by Jesus to be the way that his message of love and grace would be shared with the world.
(Analogy: Just as parents care about each of their children and the relationship between their children, God cares about each individual and their relationship with one another. Church is the gift God gave to build our relationships with one another.)

    John 1:10-18
Why should anyone believe in a Jewish peasant who was born of virgin, died on a cross, and rose from the dead?
    1) If God is personally, it makes sense that God would become a person.
    2) Jesus’ death shows the depth of God’s love.
    3) Jesus’ resurrection is the hinge of history after which the world would never be the same again.

    Scripture: John 1:1-5
Many people in our world have stopped believing in God, or at least they have stopped believing in the personal loving Christian God. This sermon will address 3 key questions that keep people from God.
    1) Is it scientifically more likely that God exist or doesn’t exist? It is more likely God exist because when looking at the order or the universe it is more likely it had a creator. (Psalm 19:1)
    2) Is God loving? Yes, how can you explain the existence of love outside of God. Christ shows us the picture of God’s love. (1 John 4:7)
    3) Is God powerful enough to make a difference? Yes, Christ shows us God’s power, humility and purpose? (Philippians 2:5-11)

Habit Forming: Relationships – Rev. Wil Cantrell
John 4:7 Jesus came that we might be in relationship with God. He lived in relationship with others to help them find a transforming relationship with God. Through sharing meals, travel, and one-on-one time, Jesus made friendships that would last for all eternity.
