Micah 6:8

“And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Concord United in Missions

Concord United Methodist Church has long been a mission minded church. We work to involve all ages from the youngest to the oldest in serving our neighbors locally, nationally and internationally.  We try to plant the seeds for children, youth and adults to have a heart for serving others.

We are called to be Christ’s hands, feet and heart here in our community, walking with our neighbors who need a helping hand. Please consider joining us for a future opportunity to serve others. Below are some upcoming opportunities.

Scroll down and click on the Mission Opportunities button below for more about our Mission teams and click the Calendar button for a full listing of service projects.

Meet Sherry

"The feeling I get from this church is no matter who you are, no matter where you came from, no matter what your needs are, you are a part of us."

**Disclaimer to be packed in bag with each mask:

This mask will not prevent users from getting the Covid-19 virus.

Care Instructions: Sanitize by putting the mask in the dryer on high heat.

Please launder in hot water or boil mask for 5 minutes.  Let dry completely before wearing.

Facemask Project

We are seeking sewers to make fabric face masks for emerging community needs. We recognize these will not prevent users from getting the Covid-19 virus, but for persons in our community who must continue working, it may help them to keep from touching their face, etc.

We have cotton fabric at church.  If you need some, let Jane Currin (jcurrin@concordumc.com) know, and we will arrange to get it to you.  Please consider replacing the elastic, with 18” ties in each corner. The ties may be made from the same fabric as the mask.

When you have finished your mask, you may drop them off in the marked tub at the East covered drive on the Food Pantry shelves or at Farragut Pharmacy from 9-5:30, call 966-9728 and they will come to your car to get the masks.

Pantry Partnership

The Shepherd of Hope Food Pantry is a joint effort between Concord United,  Faith Lutheran and Farragut Presbyterian.

The Pantry is open monthly to the community:

1st Monday, 3pm-5pm and 3rd Monday, 3pm-7pm

You are welcome to join us to help stock the pantry, as well as assist and volunteer when the pantry is open. A mandatory training session is required, click the button for the next training session and to sign up.

Community Garden

A large part of the food grown in the garden that is adjacent to the west parking lot, goes to food pantries and feeding ministries.  You can also “adopt” a portion and contribute 10% and keep the rest.

“Garden Parties” are held each Monday and Saturday mornings, 9-noon, and Thursday evenings, 4:30 til dusk, when anyone can show up to help work the garden. If you have questions, click the button to email Mike Smith.

July 31 - August 2

Rosedale, VA

Individuals and families (with children age 5 and up) are invited to participate in our annual mission to work at Elk Garden School Community Ministries in Rosedale, Va. Prayers for Guatemala Mission Trip

Once again we will be sending a mission team to do work and build relationships in Guatemala July 19 - 27. We ask for your prayers now for the work we will do building cooking stoves and assisting with tree reforestation in the highlands of Guatemala this summer. Pray for the team that will go, and most importantly the people we will serve and love. Stay tuned for more about how you can support this team as we get closer and follow us this summer on Facebook.

Local Home Repairs

Sometimes families have damage to their home or have needs that they can’t fix or do themselves.  We need individuals with handy skills, trucks, trailers, or just a willingness to learn and help with these repairs/builds.  If you would like to be a part of this group, please click the button below and let us know you can lend a hand!
